Ginataang Alimango

Ginataang Alimango or Alimasag are crabs cooked in coconut milk. The taste of this dish is just awesome that every Filipino loves. Preparing ginataang alimasag or alimango is just easy and yet very delicious.

How to cook Ginataang Alimango?

Ingredients:
  • 3-5 pieces blue crabs (Alimasag)
  • 4 cups coconut milk
  • 1 bunch string beans
  • 1 1/2 cup squash
  • 2 tbsp shrimp paste
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 2 tbsp ginger, julienned
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
Procedure:
  1. Heat the pot and pour-in the cooking oil.
  2. Sauté the garlic, onion, and ginger.
  3. Add-in ground black pepper and coconut milk then bring to a boil.
  4. Put-in shrimp paste and fish sauce. Cook for approximately 20-30 minutes.
  5. Put the crabs and mix until evenly covered with coconut milk. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Add the squash and string beans. Simmer for 7 minutes, then serve.
  7. Share and happy eating!

I use Eastern coconut milk, as there is no available fresh coconut milk.
